Course Overview: Civic engagement enables students to participate responsibly in society, understand community needs, and contribute to positive social impact. Social innovation strengthens this participation by using human-centred problem-solving, collaboration, entrepreneurship, advocacy, and practical action to address shared challenges.

This course introduces civic responsibility, active citizenship, public institutions, community needs, social innovation, social entrepreneurship, stakeholder engagement, partnerships, volunteerism, advocacy, collaborative leadership, digital activism, social media for impact, civic technology, responsible digital participation, campaign design, and community action planning.

Learning Outcomes

• Explain civic responsibility, participation, public institutions, and active citizenship
• Identify community needs and apply social-innovation and human-centred problem-solving methods
• Build stakeholder relationships, partnerships, advocacy efforts, and collaborative leadership
• Use digital activism, social media, and civic technology responsibly for social impact
• Design a community-impact initiative, civic campaign, or personal community action plan
